Creating a CL monoline policy

Last updated: March 6, 2026

Overview

A commercial lines monoline policy is used when a client needs coverage for a single line of business, such as General Liability, Commercial Property, or Workers’ Compensation, written as a standalone policy. Monoline insurance is meant to cover a single risk that doesn't need to be bundled with other lines.

In the steps below, you’ll learn how to select the correct policy type, enter the required details, and complete setup so the policy is accurate and ready to move through its lifecycle.

Create the policy

Follow the process below to create a commercial monoline policy.

  1. From the account record, select New CL Policy.

  2. From the New CL Policy modal, select a line of business (do not select a type that has 'package' in the name) in the Policy/Coverage Type picklist. If the monoline policy type you need isn’t available, contact your system admin or support@amplo.com.

Do not select Commercial Package, Agriculture Package, or Business Owners (BOP) from the Policy/Coverage Type picklist. These options are reserved for commercial package policies. For more information about package policies, see 📄 Creating a CL package policy .

  1. Update the modal with the available information:

    • Agency: Select the agency responsible for the policy.

    • Branch: Select the branch associated with the agency for this policy.

    • Primary Producer (required) : Populates from the Account. It may be blank or not accurate for this policy. If no producer is assigned, select the House checkbox. You must either have a value for Primary Producer or the House checkbox enabled or you will receive an error.

    • Account Manager: Populates from the Account. It may be blank or not accurate for this policy.

    • ACORD Form State: Enter the customer’s state. This field defaults to the state listed on the Account’s billing address, but you can update it here.

Note: Updating the policy status to Information Gathering is not required. However, it helps producers and administrators quickly see that the policy is ready for schedules and coverages to be added.

Now that the monoline policy has been created, refer to the 📄 Adding policy schedules and coveragesarticle to review, update, and finalize the associated schedules and coverages.
