Resolving STRING_TOO_LONG Error

Overview

When saving data changes, you may encounter a STRING_TOO_LONG error if the value entered into a field exceeds the maximum character limit of that field. The error can be formatted in a few ways, but each has information that is useful for you in troubleshooting. The error should tell you the field whose limit you exceeded, as well as the specific value that exceeded the limit, such as

• Process name

• Field name

• Input value

• Field limit

• API field name

To resolve this issue, truncate the input value to the field character limit.

Error resolution

To disable the 50 character limit setting, complete the following steps:

1. Navigate to any Account page with a certificate.

2. Click on Certificates.

3. Select any certificate.

4. Click the gear in the top right hand of the screen, and select Edit Page.

5. Click on the Holders tab.

6. Click on the component with the Create New Holder button.

7. In the right hand panel, disable the check box next to Activate Field Mapping.

8. Click Save.
