Blank comments in Task Audit Trail
Last updated: November 4, 2025
Overview
When using Task New Audit Trail, the task record includes an Audit Trail component, visible on the right-hand side of the Task record page. This section logs all activity in chronological order, displaying the user’s name, timestamp, and the changes or comments made. The Audit Trail captures:
field updates on the Task record
manually entered comments added through the Notes Log component.
Known limitation
The audit log is intended to display notes entered in the Comments field in the Audit Trail component. The current functionality has a known limitation where any comment that begins with a manually entered datestamp using a double-digit month (for example, 01/01/25 or 11/01/25) will display as a blank entry in the Formatted View (the default visible version of the Audit Trail).
Recommended workaround
To ensure that comments display properly in the Formatted View:
Use alphabetical month abbreviations when entering date stamps manually.
✅ Example: Nov 21, 2025
❌ Avoid: 11/21/25
Use a character before the date stamp:
✅ Example: 01/01/25
If your organization has comments that are displaying incorrectly due to a leading date stamp, you can review the full audit text by clicking Show Unformatted in the upper-right corner of the Audit Trail component.
Considerations
Currently, there is no permanent resolution for this behavior. The default Audit Trail view cannot be customized or reassigned at any level, including org-wide, profile, user, role, or permission set.
